I have a little secret…
I have a little secret. I share this secret in some of my women’s retreats, but only after everyone else has opened their hearts and made themselves vulnerable.
I love to vacuum.
Yes, my name is Karen, and I am a vacuumaholic. There is nothing like seeing the transformation of a floor that had schmoots all over it and then seeing the clean tracks of where I did the vacuuming magic. But that is the key word: Transformation. I love seeing the before and after, and especially when I can see the result instantly. That’s why I love clutter clearing, cleaning, and throwing out stuff that no longer serves me – immediately I feel lighter and clearer and I love that feeling.
So that is what I want to write about today: what no longer serves me and releasing it to create space. My favorite expression is “Stop watering dead plants.” I have had to really look at where I spend my energy, and since it is a new year with new intentions it’s time to look at what do I want to let go of, clean up, throw out, and move on from?
I am asking myself a few questions in this new year:
What truly lights me up is creating and making music, and I am thrilled to (finally!!!!) have some new music to put out into the world! I have created a collection of eight new songs – some are new songs and some that I recorded during the lockdown. I will debut the songs at my Second Sunday Sacred Sing on January 9th, which will feature some of my wonderful co-writers.
So I ask you the same questions – what dead plants are you still watering, and what do you want to let go of and create in 2022? The world is still in such a wacky place with this virus and all the politics – but I know that for me, kindness to myself and others is at the top of my list. I hope it will be for you too!
